Pecan trees for sale

Willis Orchard Company will assist you with making your pecan tree selections and offer expert advice for all of your pecan tree needs.

We sell our trees bare-root and recommend pruning 1/3 to 1/2 of the top of your new tree to encourage vigorous growth and rapid establishment. Trees start producing at the age of 6–10 years, but last for generations

These are the perfect plants to make the most of your sunshine and space.

Inadequate pollination is a common reason why some pecan trees produce poorly or don’t bear nuts at all. And, since these trees can continue to bear even when over a century old, you’ll enjoy homegrown nuts for generations.

To ensure your growing success and satisfaction, there are a few things to consider when you buy a pecan tree.

Zone Compatibility

Your climate plays an important role in whether a pecan tree will be successful.

Each year our orchards grow and harvest over 5,000 pounds of all-natural, healthy, and delicious pecans.

Our pecan varieties have been chosen specifically for their size, taste, and ease of cracking the shell. It is highly recommended you plant at least one of each type, as recommended, for adequate cross pollination.

Mature Tree Size

Pecan trees grow to be rather large.

We carefully balance the size of the root ball and its success in transplanting.

  • Choose a sunny site with good air circulation

  • Provide room to spread, as Pecans grow large

  • Be patient! After that time, in the Spring apply one pound of 10-10-10 with micronutrients around the root zone of the tree.

Also, do not apply fertilizers for the first two years. Here you will find a fine selection of pecan tree varieties, as well as closely related Hickory nut trees (Carya laciniosa). Shipping can be calculated at checkout.

Family owned and operated, Shady Grove Pecan Orchards consists of four orchards: two in the heart of the Delta near Wabbaeska and two in Arkansas’ primary pecan growing area near Scott and Toltec.

Some self-pollination may occur, however it is highly recommended to plant at least three varieties together for maximum pollination and production. That way, you get to enjoy homegrown nuts as well as a terrific shade tree.

Perhaps you have some sun and open ground on your property and want to get into Pecan farming as a hobby or enterprise.

Let your customers know what to expect if they sign up to your mailing list. Make sure the hardiness zone range of the tree you choose includes your area.

  • Pecan trees are heat-tolerant and typically grow well in the warmer climates of the South and West (Zones 7-9).
  • We also offer some varieties that are hardy enough be grown successfully in cooler climates as far north as the upper Midwest (Zones 5-6).
  • Most importantly, pecan trees rely on summer heat and long growing seasons for nuts to mature and fill-in.

Proper Pollination

Pollination by a different pecan variety is key to the success of many pecan trees.

We classify the pollination periods of each tree as either protandrous (Type 1) or protogynous (Type 2.) You should mix Type 1 and Type 2 for best pollination and highest yields.

Our Pecan trees for sale will grow in a variety of soil types, except poorly drained soils. We invite you to try our pecans as a tasty snack, send them as gifts, or as part of your favorite recipes!
