This motor can operate independently to propel the vehicle or work in tandem with the petrol engine.
In E-mode, the electric motor alone provides a maximum output of 85 kW and 330 Nm of torque. For quicker charging, the battery supports DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes.
It also serves to start the internal combustion engine and replaces the traditional alternator.
The Superb Hatch iV utilises its 1.5 TSI petrol engine and electric motor in three configurations, depending on the selected driving mode. Förutom den mycket lägre kostnaden för själva körningen, är skatten också lägre för laddhybrider än för en vanlig bil.

The high-voltage battery, with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, comprises four modules and is housed beneath the rear seats.
A three-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the transmission and separated from the internal combustion engine by a clutch. While driving, the battery is continually recharged through regenerative braking, which recovers kinetic energy during deceleration.
With an all-electric range of more than 120 kilometres (WLTP), the Superb Hatch iV is well-suited to everyday driving.

Second-generation plug-in hybrid drive
The Hatch variant of the fourth-generation Superb will soon be released with a plug-in hybrid powertrain to complement the Superb Combi iV.
The plug in hybrid drive will later on also become available for the Superb Hatch.

Laddhybrid
En laddhybrid är en bil som kombinerar eldrift med diesel- eller bensindrift.
They produce a combined system output of 150 kW (204 hp), with power delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed DSG transmission. På kortare sträckor kan du köra miljövänligt med el, och på längre sträckor övergår bilen smidigt till att använda förbränningsmotorn. It also includes enhanced safety features, advanced assistance systems, and a broad range of powertrains, marking the debut of mild-hybrid technology and the new-generation plug-in hybrid system.

Mildhybrid
En mildhybrid (mHEV) har ett mindre batteri som arbetar tillsammans med en förbränningsmotor.
It’ll do 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds thanks to its powerful electric motor and punchy petrol engine – particularly impressive when you consider the fact it should manage more than 30 miles on electric power alone.
Overall, it's very hard to find fault with the Superb iV. Three petrol engines, including a 1.5 TSI now equipped with mild-hybrid technology, are joined by two diesels.
All models come with DSG. All-wheel drive is standard on the top diesel and the top petrol model. That's because its low CO2 emissions mean just 12% Benefit-in-Kind tax, compared to 30% or more for the 2.0-litre diesels.
It’s no sports car, but the Superb iV drives well, displaying a fine blend of comfort and handling. Not only can you get the Superb as a plug-in hybrid in the SE L, SportLine Plus and Laurin & Klement trim levels, but the plug-in powertrain is available in both the hatchback and cavernous estate bodystyles – we've reviewed the latter separately.

Like its petrol and diesel-engined siblings, the Superb iV undercuts the equivalent Volkswagen Passat GTE - especially now the Passat is estate-only - and should prove very popular as a company-car choice.
